Highlighting Young People Who Make A Difference

Everyday around the world, individuals are faced with making difficult choices. Due to low self-esteem, peer pressure, and/or bullying, they often unfortunately make the wrong decision that can sometimes ultimately impact the rest of their lives. Teenagers need to be reminded how the decisions they make today will impact their immediate future regarding continued education, potential high-level careers, and ultimately their financial security. Through my involvement with my platform, “Everything Starts with One,” I am able to make a difference in the lives of teenagers across South Carolina by teaching them to not make their decisions based on fear, but, instead, to show strong self-will in order to provide better opportunities for their futures. By encouraging others to “Reach Up, Reach Out,” they have the power to make a positive difference in their lives and improve the forecast for the next generation. -Peyton Mills, Candidate Miss South Carolina Teen 2015.

Get Ready To Whip Out Your Credit Card Before You Go To The Hospital

Get ready to whip out your credit card before you are wheeled into the operating room or undergo an MRI.
Hospitals are increasingly asking patients to pay for their surgeries and other medical procedures upfront or before they are discharged. Hospitals now have new technology that allow them to determine the patient's responsibility in advance.
But the tables may be turning on hospitals and healthcare providers in favor of the consumers. As part of eDocHome's suite of benefits is their MEDICAL HEALTH ADVISOR. With this program, any eDocHome member can get upfront pricing for many surgeries and medical procedures from area hospitals and providers. "Our members simply go to a designated website with our cost estimator. They enter their specific procedure and zip code, and within a few seconds, a number of hospitals are listed with their cost and their hospital safety score. " I recently inquired about a knee replacement surgery. The pricing ranged from $10,644 to $16,274 and safety scores from A to C", said Chris Cole, Sr. Managing Partner of eDocHome. "This same pricing variance held true for a MRI of a knee. The pricings ranged from $1,682 to $2,844. These are significant differences for the American consumer."
Many consumers selected a high deductible plan to save money on their healthcare costs. This is leading many hospital administrators to be wary that patients have $2000 to $6250 to meet their deductible.
In addition to eDocHome's Medical Health Advisor, they also have a Medical Bill Saver program." If a member has a balance of $400 or more which is not covered by their insurance plan, a specialized negotiating team will try to negotiate a reduction on the amount due to the provider. Negotiation can result in 25% to 50% savings. This is a powerful tool for which our members to have access ", Cole said
eDocHome is better known for being a national provider of telehealth services of U.S. board certified physicians who use electronic health records, telephone consultations and online video consultations to diagnose, recommend treatment and write short-term, non-DEA controlled prescriptions, when appropriate. Physicians are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, allowing members of any age to access quality care from their home, office, or while traveling, as opposed to more expensive settings like the doctor's office, urgent care center or emergency room.
